In January 2020, I took my granddaughter to Tanzania where we volunteered in Ipalamwa, working with Global Volunteers. I am a teacher, so I put my skills to work, primarily in the Secondary school, while Grace worked in the Kindergarten. This was definitely a life changing 3 weeks! I have never felt quite so able to make a difference. I felt so moved by the gratitude of these warm, friendly people.

I am bursting to repeat this experience, in a different culture, and have registered to go to Cuba in 2022, where I will be supporting Global Volunteers in any way I can.

The airfares from NZ make this a very expensive venture, so any contributions I able to get towards the programme fees would be so gratefully accepted.

Volunteers are welcomed into homes, classrooms, clinics, community centers, hospitals, orphanages, childcare centers, libraries, government offices, farm fields, and more on exceptional international service-learning programs providing essential services of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Volunteers work with and learn from and about local people who are making real change in their communities to help children grow and thrive.
