Hello everyone,
My name is Kelsi, and I am a person who has deeply rooted herself into service. Next summer, on July 2nd, I will depart to Sicily, Italy in order to serve their community for two weeks. In college I had the opportunity to serve a communities in West Virginia and Costa Rica, through Global Volunteers and a volunteer service club at Plymouth State University, where we performed mostly physical service by putting up scaffolding, painting, cleaning up schools, and even a families home. For the past three years I have dedicated my life to serving students in their classroom as a student success coach. We focus on mentoring students in English, Math and social emotional development. In my time I have gotten to move up from the 3rd to 5th grade with many of my students and thus I feel like I have been a really grounding support for them. I hope to bring my same compassion, energy, and love to the students in Sicily. My goal is to raise the money needed for this service trip by May 1st. I hope you can support me on journey, any amount helps!
A note about our service in Italy: volunteers have served in Italian classrooms and small groups as L’amico preferitos” (“favorite friends”) since 1995. Now in partnership with the municipal government of Castelvetrano, Sicily, we’ll be teaching conversational English skills to students in high school classrooms and small groups. Our new program is near the southwestern coast of the island, in the province of Trapani. The city has a population of roughly 31,000 residents and is famous for its olives and olive oil, cobbled streets, narrow passage ways, ready access to the sea, and unique architecture reminiscent of the past.
By supporting volunteers' efforts, you contribute directly to the future success of children in partner communities. Your generous donation to your chosen volunteer ensures that these services continue year-round. Thank you for making this investment in the future of our world - our children!
