The mission of the High Desert Humane Society is to promote and to provide humane and ethical treatment of companion animals through shelter care, adoption, community education and programs which address pet overpopulation.
Since 1973 we have been dedicated to the health and welfare of companion animals in our community. We accept lost, abandoned, friendless, and injured animals, as well as those no longer suitable for their family. We try to reunite lost pets with their owners and find homes for adoptable dogs, cats, and other small pets in our care.
We are hoping to build a new adoption center in the next few years. This center would provide for better care for animals waiting to be adopted and would be more assessable for adopters come visiting and find their new companion.
We offer spay & neuter assistance through our HALT program. We put on a drive through reduced fee vaccination clinic the second Saturday of every month and we offer pet cremation services with a beautiful memorial wall to commemorate your pet. In the event of a community emergency that would result in families evacuating their homes, we have an emergency plan to take in and house their family pets during the emergency.
We operate Our Paws' Cause Thrift Shop located at 703 N Bullard which funds our HALT program and other needs at the Shelter. Our Thrift Shop accepts gently used house hold items and clothing.
