Gila Back Country Horsemen is Keeping Gila Trails Open for All.

Celebrating 20 years in 2021, Gila BCH’s mission is to “Perpetuate the commonsense use and enjoyment of horses in America's backcountry and wilderness areas.”  We do this by planning and implementing trail projects and bringing in additional help from other trail users and trail groups. This allows us to be efficient and effective in reopening the maximum amount of trails. Additional, we provide updated trail information to the public at to help all trail users have a safe and enjoyable adventure in the Gila.

Last year, we improved over 130 miles of trail which were dispersed throughout the Gila National Forest to benefit many types of trail users and various local communities.  We plan to exceed this number as we prepare for the Gila Wilderness Centennial and build off of previous years' accomplishments to create additional loop and out/back options.

Funds will go towards volunteer trail work projects, improving trails

throughout the Gila National Forest.
