Join us for our April 2022 Happy Home Fundraiser!
Bunny Besties brings animal-assisted interactions with rabbits to our community members most impacted by stress and isolation. Throughout this pandemic, we have worked hard to keep our mission going strong. It's easy to look at all the difficulties we've faced, but we are grateful that our small and mighty nonprofit still brought cheer, joy, and calm into the lives of our community members that needed it the most.
We are now in the midst of fundraising for our new Happy Home – a new physical location for our nonprofit to grow roots and support our community’s wellbeing. We have identified a suitable location and will need your help to secure this spot. Our vision is to use this space as a hub for rabbit therapy, additional wellbeing activities, and to host our community-centered General Store.

OUR PASSION:
Bunny Besties mission is to provide impactful Animal Assisted Interactions to support the emotional wellness of our community. We provide sanctuary to the rabbits in our program as well as resources and education to rabbit owners. Bunny Besties vision is to be a resource for our community for emotional wellness, stress reduction and education with rabbits.
OUR ORIGIN:
Bunny Besties was co-founded by a woman and her son. They were working at Nursing homes and People Serving People Homeless shelter when a call came from the newly formed Pet Away Worry and Stress program at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities Campus. The Director of the PAWS program had a recommendation of these two and wanted them to bring bunnies to the UMN PAWS. They began in September 2014 and have never looked back. The first three rabbits were such a huge hit with students that additional volunteers and rabbits soon joined the effort. Bunny Besties soon established itself as a 501 c 3 non-profit organization in 2017.
SMALL BUT MIGHTY:
With a current team of 35 volunteers and 12 rabbits. We have participated in over 550 events with a total of over 23,000 attendees, mostly children and young adults. Bunny Besties was awarded the Presidential Volunteer Service Award (Gold Level) in 2017, 2018 and 2019.
OUR NEED:
We need to raise $30,000 of "Bunny Money" to support our 2022 programs, administrative costs, and the care of our 12 therapy rabbits.. Bunny Besties recruits rescue rabbits, puts them through school, and provides them with a lifelong home, specialized veterinary care, high quality nutrition, and most of all, the chance to provide and receive love from those going through stressful life transitions. Bunny Besties receives some income through service provision but is primarily dependent on philanthropy to meet our costs.
