Please take one minute of your time to read this:

Several Fridays ago, I was woken up at 07:28 A.M to respond to call for a person in cardiac arrest. Our crew performed CPR for several minutes, but unfortunately, the patient was pronounced dead by the paramedics once they arrived on scene. Images have been engraved in my memory: The wife's tears, the German Shepard protecting his owner.

Moments after consoling her for her loss, we were dispatched over the radio to a call for a woman in labor just a couple of blocks away. By 08:03 A.M, she was holding her healthy newborn son in her arms.

Joy and grief: The juxtaposition of these two calls, I hope, conveys the significant impact a volunteer ambulance squad can have on a community. In the 4 years I have been a member of TVAC, I have responded to 2000 calls for help. The stretcher is a place I've seen birth and death, treated patient's young and old, and comforted the wealthy and the homeless.

The money donated to this page will be be used to help stock our individual members with crucial equipment that our current resources cannot afford. Although our ambulance quickly arrives on scene within an average 2-5 minutes, we can even better serve our community by stocking our members, who may be near a critical emergency, with life-saving equipment.

Our members are ready to go 24/7.

At TVAC, we take immense pride in our quick response time and high level of patient care. The average EMS response time in Bergen County is sixteen minutes. TVAC’s response time averages between 2-5 minutes. When seconds count, we dispatch the closest EMTs directly to the scene in addition to our crew and ambulance from our headquarters. This response model ensures that care can be started as quickly as possible with rapid transport to an appropriate hospital.

Currently, we do not have the resources to supply ALL of our members with a complete medical bag, oxygen tank, and automated external defibrillator (AED). We are asking you to consider a tax-deductible donation to enable our members to reduce the time to initiate life-saving treatment even further, by guaranteeing that each of our members is equipped to provide the highest level of treatment possible. Seconds really matter!

This campaign can only be successful with the generous support of the entire Teaneck community. We appreciate your generosity, and we pledge that we will always be there for you, your family, your neighbor, and your friends in a time of need. Our volunteers are your neighbors, coworkers, and even family members. Items can be donated individually (see below for prices) or as an entire “first responder kit” ($3000).
