At the end of my 8th grade year, I decided to get back into running and I wanted to go the distance at my home away from home: Walt Disney World. I was talking to my aunt and she mentioned how she is using the power of her legs to raise money for others, and I knew that is what I also wanted to do.

When I heard about JAR of Hope and the work they are doing to support kids with Duchenne muscular dystrophy and fighting to find a cure for this cruel and fatal disease, I knew they were who I wanted to raise money and awareness for.

I am just a year older than James Anthony Raffone aka Jamesy, in fact, our birthdays are inverted as his is 03.31 and mine is 03.13. Yet, our lives couldn’t be further apart, and that breaks my heart because no kid should have to go through what those with DMD do.

I set some pretty lofty goals for myself and have decided to run Goofy’s Race and a Half during the 2024 WDW Marathon weekend … a half marathon on 01/06/24 and a full marathon on 01/07/24 … that’s 39.3 miles. Goofy is my favorite Disney character and he’s going to be with me every magical mile that I run for boys like Jamesy. My aunt, Tammy aka Mimi, will be running with me as she takes on Dopey’s Challenge and runs 48.6 miles, which I hope to do in 2025.

So please help me raise money to support JAR of Hope so they can continue to fight to find a cure for Duchenne muscular dystrophy.

Thank you for supporting me to reach and surpass my goal! You mean the world to me!

JAR of Hope is running its 7th consecutive runDisney Marathon Weekend. We are running this event bc Jamesy and 11 other boys are going to be in a clinical trial at the University of Florida. Yes, this is going to be the first of its kind Stem Cell Clinical Trial to see if we can improve the quality of life. We want to make a HUEG IMPACT in this disease. No child has ever survived Duchenne. Its been 200 years and we need to change that! Thanks to everyone on this team this year we are going to do just that!

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for joining this team and giving me the opportunity to help save my son's life and other people alike.

Warmest regards,

How would you like to support?
