Rachel's Run for DMD!

Campaign has ended

´╗┐Aloha! My name is Rachel. I started my RunDisney journey at Disneyland in 2017. I started running after suffering a hemiplegic migraine in Disneyland that caused complete failure of the right side of my body. When I heard of RunDisney I knew that running past the very spot I lost the use of my leg would be the ultimate comeback. After almost a year of physical therapy, I ran my first half marathon passing the very spot I got wheeled out of the park.

This will not only be my seventh year running Disney but my first year running for charity. I thought long and hard about what charities at these events impacted me the most and Jar of Hope was the first to come to mind. James and his team of runners are always there bringing smiles to everyone on and off the course and I am so proud and excited to be a part of this team of amazing runners.

For me, it's important for disabled athletes to participate and raise funds and awareness for others with chronic illnesses and disabilities!

JAR of Hope is running its 7th consecutive runDisney Marathon Weekend. We are running this event bc Jamesy and 11 other boys are going to be in a clinical trial at the University of Florida. Yes, this is going to be the first of its kind Stem Cell Clinical Trial to see if we can improve the quality of life. We want to make a HUEG IMPACT in this disease. No child has ever survived Duchenne. Its been 200 years and we need to change that! Thanks to everyone on this team this year we are going to do just that!

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for joining this team and giving me the opportunity to help save my son's life and other people alike.

Warmest regards,
