I love Mexican food, fruity drinks, and peanut M&Ms. I love napping, laying by a pool, and shopping for bargains. I love going to concerts and singing in the car. I especially love dogs. What I don’t love is running, but somehow I let a friend talk me in to a runDisney event.

I came to the Springtime Surprise Weekend expecting to quickly be swept by the balloon ladies, and for those not familiar with Disney races, it means I didn’t think I could do it. But, somehow I finished the 5K race and it felt pretty amazing.

Then, I finished the 10K and it felt even more amazing. When I actually crossed the finish line for the 10 mile race, it was beyond amazing. Excited, proud, achy, tired yet energized. I’m hooked on this running thing.

I want a redo, a chance to be faster and run more than walk. So I’m going for it- Disney’s Dopey Challenge. A 5K, 10K, half marathon, and marathon. Not only am I running for a healthier stronger me, I’m running for JAR of Hope.

JAR of Hope is a wonderful organization, whose goals are to spread awareness for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and raise money to help find a cure. DMD is a rare disease, occurring in one of every 3500 births and affecting mostly boys. It affects the ability to walk and run, and as it progresses, the ability to breathe. All kids deserve to grow up strong and healthy.

I’ll need all the well wishes I can get to make it to four finish lines and if you have a dollar or two to share, I’ll need that to help me reach my fundraising goal. Thank you for your support!

JAR of Hope is running its 7th consecutive runDisney Marathon Weekend. We are running this event bc Jamesy and 11 other boys are going to be in a clinical trial at the University of Florida. Yes, this is going to be the first of its kind Stem Cell Clinical Trial to see if we can improve the quality of life. We want to make a HUEG IMPACT in this disease. No child has ever survived Duchenne. Its been 200 years and we need to change that! Thanks to everyone on this team this year we are going to do just that!

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for joining this team and giving me the opportunity to help save my son's life and other people alike.

Warmest regards,
