Thank you for visiting my page. I'm fundraising for Jar of Hope because I believe we can SAVE THE FIRST CHILD and continue to bring hope to ALL the families impacted by Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD).

Jar of Hope is spearheaded by an incredible father, Jim, who I had the privilege of meeting in 2016, and we've gone on to share many kms together on foot as he continues his fight to save his son and all the boys affected by DMD.

As a parent, I cannot imagine doctors telling me my child is very sick and there is no cure. Unfortunately, Jim and his wife heard the doctors say this on September 13, 2013. They said, "GO HOME AND LOVE YOUR SON: THERE IS NOTHING WE CAN DO FOR HIM!!"

Jamesy was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. DMD is a fatal genetic disorder characterized by progressive muscle degeneration. It primarily affects boys, most of whom are wheelchair-bound by age 12. At age 15, all four of their limbs will be affected by paralysis, leaving them quadriplegic. By 18 years of age, breathing on their own is no longer an option, and they will live on a ventilator until they succumb to this degenerative disease.

Around the world, 20,000 children are diagnosed with Duchenne each year. These children are robbed of their childhood as they can't run and play. The simplest of movements is painful. Many don't survive past their mid-twenties.

I am committing to joining Jim and the Jar of Hope Team to take on the Grand to Grand Ultra, an unsupported 7-day multi-stage race and would love your support!  I am nowhere near trained or ready, but none of these families were prepared for the news they received. I am committed to doing what it takes to get myself and the team to the finish line.

Donations are in USD.

$ raised will support a clinical trial at the University of Florida. More Info: https://www.jarofhope.org/clinical-study-information

JAR of Hope is taking on the G2G once again. This very well might be Jim's last dance. You are going to want to come on out and enjoy the last time Jim will ever do this race. Jim needs to spend more time at home with Jamesy. Jamesy is 14 now, and this will be Jim's 6 consecutive starts at this amazing event. Jamesy has lost the ability to walk, but we are not done fighting yet. Our intentions are to fund the clinical trial at the University of Florida to help understand more about this devastating disease.

Jim has said, "It's been a great ride running the G2G, but this was never about racing". This has and will always be about finding a cure for Jamesy and making his quality of life that much better than Duchenne allows. I can't thank everyone enough for all their support.

Let's bond together and make this the best event to say Farwell to Jim as this is his Last Dance in the desert.

JAR of Hope!
