(Friends organized this memorial fundraiser on behalf of Laura.)

We All know her by her spirit: Badass, Warrior, or Wonder Woman. She valiantly fought the cancer that ravaged her body. Six years of fighting.

She sought new treatments. Her six year battle with ovarian cancer depended upon cutting edge medicine. She lost her hair from chemo twice. She battled onward. She took pills that had to be handled with tweezers. She battled onward. She took therapeutic meds that caused weight gain and weight loss. She battled onward. For years, it seemed when one chemo or medication became too toxic or stopped being effective, new research brought new treatments forward.

For a disease that tends to take souls within a few years, the ongoing research of groups like STAAR are adding days, months, and even years to the lives of low grade serous ovarian cancer warriors like Laura.

Through the better times and even through the hard times, Laura acted to raise money and build awareness of Low Grade Serous Ovarian Cancer. She built teams to participate in the Overrun Ovarian Cancer Walk in 2019 and 2021. Even in her last days, Laura attended a fundraiser she helped organize; to build awareness of the symptoms of ovarian cancer and raise funds for research through the STAAR foundation. STAAR was a group Laura was passionate about. Through community events, Laura worked tirelessly with STAAR to help fund research and educate women about ovarian cancer symptoms.

Let's continue the battle for our graceful warrior. Donate to her memorial fund. Let's build her legacy and help find the cure she never stopped searching for. While her body was consumed by cancer, we can help her fighting spirit live.

Battle onward!
