How would you like to support?

MiMentor means the world to me. It is through their community and support that I have been empowered to apply to medical school and continue my journey into my medical career. I ask you to support our vibrant MiMentor community and to help students just like me thrive.

Share Your Story is a core ideal that we promote in the MiMentor community because there is a lot of power of understanding our individual journey and experiences and how that contributes to who we are. In the scope of our community as future health professionals, leaders, and advocates, it is a powerful tool if wielded correctly. So, who am I? Let's find out.

I have humble roots growing up in Portola, CA, a small rural town of 2,000 people. I was taught by my Mexican immigrant parent's the value of hard work and I carried that value in my journey thus far in becoming a doctor. At UC Davis, I majored in Physiology (NPB) and minored in [email protected] Studies, I volunteered at Clinica Tepati and had extensive research experiences. My biggest challenges have been financing my education and finding creative solutions to overcome this barrier as well as accepting that my journey to medicine is longer than other more traditional paths. In my gap between my bachelors and applying to medical schools, I worked at the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing working with the Latina caregiver population, taught cadaver anatomy, and volunteered as a Spanish interpreter for a team of Medical doctors and students in Nicaragua. Now I am happy to serve as MiMentor's Chief Operations Officer and explore how to best serve our community. I consider myself a physician leader-in-training, working towards bringing health equity to Latino underserved patients. I share my story to empower all of you to share your stories so that together we all move forward into our health careers inspired by each other.

MiMentor was founded and created by Alliance in Mentorship (AIM), a 501c3 non-profit, to develop and support innovative mentorship opportunities that inspire the next generation of healthcare leaders for underserved communities. MiMentor brings together 1000's of aspiring and current healthcare professional mentors and mentees via MiMentor.org (mobile app) and in-person events called Together We Mentor throughout the country.
