Supporting: Run to Nature for YES Nature to Neighborhoods

My Team: Team Wild Richmond

As you know, Jean and I have been involved with YES Nature to Neighborhoods for a few years. YES provides low-income kids and families in Richmond and West Contra Costa County with the opportunity to get outside and spend time together in nature. YES provides year-round programming and activities -- including weekend-long family camps -- aimed at cultivating youth and adult leaders who lead healthy, connected lives. With the support of YES, these leaders then advocate for positive change in their own neighborhoods. Since 1999, YES has brought 5500 kids and 1200 families to summer and family camps in the beautiful Northern California redwoods and involved even more in local activities like their Camp Days Program. Created in cooperation with YES's partner, the East Bay Regional Park District, the Camp Days Program introduces YES families to nearby parks and natural spaces they can access independently and affordably!

With your help, I'm raising funds for YES by walking (not running, sorry!) the 5K heat of the Victory Race along the San Francisco Bay Trail on February 23rd.

You may know that Jean and I spent a fabulous week walking in England in 2016. It was one of our best weeks ever, largely because of the time we spent outdoors together.

I hope you will help fund YES's great work by sponsoring me in this race and making a donation to YES. Just click the DONATE button and fill in some quick info. Your donation goes directly to YES. Even better, I'd love to have you join me as part of "Team Wild Richmond." The more the merrier!

Thanks so much for your support -- by donating to YES, you'll help incredibly deserving kids and families get out and enjoy the wonders of nature -- something everyone should have the opportunity to do!

YES Nature to Neighborhoods is gearing up for our Run to Nature Fund-Racer on February 23rd! In either the 5K, 10K, or Half-Marathon heats, we'll be walking, running, and skipping the Richmond Marina's beautiful San Francisco Bay Trail. Learn more about us at www.yesfamilies.org.

To be part of this community effort to support YES, you can:

1) Donate Now!

2) Join us as a "Fund-Racer" in three quick steps:
 i. Sign up for the race by clicking here, and be sure to join the YES Nature to Neighborhoods Team during your registration process!
ii. Start your own Fund-Racer page: Click the link and in just a few minutes, you'll have a personalized fundraising page.
iii. Email your friends, family, and coworkers: Tell them why you're doing this, and ask them to donate to support you! Tips to make this very easy can be found here. We've learned that a group email is the best way to get started, and that follow-up posts on social media are a great way to give updates and to remind your community what you're up to.
