Dalton turned 21 this year, and with his seizures back under control, he has had quite an active year. He continues to participate in Special Olympic bowling, basketball, swimming, track and field, softball, and corn hole. He also bowls in a Wednesday night league with Dad, and seasonally participates in a Saturday morning exercise group. He continues to be an avid Wii player too. ;) This is Dalton's senior year of high school, and we are so proud that he has worked hard and persevered all these years. He will graduate with a Certificate of Completion, which doesn't come close to describing the amount of work he's done, or the strides he's made throughout his academic career. We plan to continue keeping Dalton active in sports, volunteering, academics, and social activities following his graduation.
Dalton has been living with the affects of Glut1 Deficiency his entire life. To treat it, he has lived with a very restrictive medical diet for longer than he can remember. Glut1 Deficiency is a very rare neurometabolic condition that causes seizures, learning disabilities, social and communication challenges, and a movement disorder. Dalton struggles with each of these. With less than 1,000 diagnosed cases worldwide it remains extremely difficult to obtain funding for research, and therefore the responsibility to fundraise falls to the families of those suffering with Glut1 Deficiency.
Please join our family in supporting the Glut1 Deficiency Foundation’s Annual Fundraising Campaign, and help us reach our personal goal of raising $10,000 for much needed research aimed at better treatments and ultimately a cure. You can make an online donation on this page, or you can write a check payable to GLUT1 Deficiency Foundation and mail it to our home at 445 Knollview Drive, Evansville, Indiana 47711. We will forward all checks to the Foundation and a receipt for your fully tax deductible donation will be emailed or mailed to you.
We humbly thank each and every one of our loyal supporters who have generously and selflessly donated to our cause over the years. Your support and love of OUR special Some1 with Glut1 means the world to us. Thank you!
❤ Greg, Debbie, Madison, and Dalton :)
The Love Some1 with Glut1 annual campaign is the primary awareness and fundraising event for the Glut1 Deficiency Foundation. It runs from February 14-28, Valentine's Day through Rare Disease Day, and it is an important opportunity to spread awareness and raise much-needed funds to help better serve the needs of the Glut1 community.
