Brittney Lofthouse worked for the Macon County News for seven years covering everything from breaking news to community events. After the birth of her daughter Sawyer, Brittney left the newspaper and now works as a Paralegal for a law firm in Sylva. Brittney is dedicated to serving the community and currently sits on the board of Read2Me, which promotes early literacy in Macon County and serves as the Chairman of Safe Kids Macon County. The Franklin Chamber of Commerce recognized Brittney in 2017 with the first ever Distinguished Service Award noting her constant efforts to better the Macon County community.


Nick has worked for the Macon County Sheriff’s Office since 2009 and currently serves the department as a Corporal. In addition to serving in the patrol division of the department, Nick also serves on the MCSO SRT Team as well as works as a K9 Handler for the department with his K9 Diesel. Nick was named the 2018 Deputy of the Year for the Sheriff’s Department. Nick is also a member of the Fraternal Order of Police. In addition to working for the Macon County Sheriff’s Office, Nick is also a local business owner, owning Public Safety Services, which provides vehicle upfitting for emergency vehicles.


Brittney and Nick attend Cowee Baptist Church with their children and will be welcoming their new baby boy into the world this Summer.

This sell-out event, located at the chic Root + Barrel Restaurant located in downtown Franklin, host 165 attendees who savor New Orleans inspired food and spirits, listen to the jazz sounds of the Tyler Kittle Band, and don their best Mardi Gras attire.
