"I believe my work with youth aligns with the mission to awaken leaders. In addition, I have and seen first hand the impact of the fellows experience, when they have returned home, in expanding their world view and increasing self-awareness."

Welcome to my Nyah Project Ambassador Page!

I became involved with Nyah Project because I truly believe Travel Awakens Leaders.

I'm excited to share with you how travel changed my life and inspire you to get connected with this amazing fellowship.

Through travel, I have discovered things about myself I did not already know and have bonded with my children and family through shared travel  experiences.

Travel is my avenue to escape and take my mind away.

This enables my mind to breathe, be free to ponder, reflect, analyze, be present and fully embrace my travel experience.

This is essential to my personal wellness and key to opening myself up to creativity.  Through travel, I have discovered my need to escape the city life, my attraction to places near bodies of water and beautiful mountainous landscapes.  I readily embrace the warm climate and enjoy basking in the sun or walking barefoot in the grass.  When I travel, I fully immerse myself by breathing the air, connecting, seeing and tasting the culture. For me, this has been life changing and truly transformative.

My travel experiences are optimized with travel companions as family road trips were planned around reunions from as early as I can remember. Travel with my family has helped us to become closer and provided unforgettable memories.  Traveling with my kids, Rolando and Anaisa have provided us with numerous bonding experiences, aided in us  discovering  our personal preferences, particular interests while connecting  with our inner child.  Most importantly we have fun together. As a mother, it has given me great joy to watch my two kids explore each new environment. I was able to see , how they connected with nature, embrace the culture grew from each experience.

Each destination expanded our world view and helped to create a desire for more shared travel experiences.  The memories of The Baths, Grand Canyon, St. Thomas, Puerto Rico and Ghana as Nyah Fellows will be forever imprinted in our minds and hearts.

Each travel experience is unique.

We can never revisit that intersection of time and space again in any place.

Therefore, we must take hold of the lessons life gives us through travel and return home with new insights and forever changed.

NEE-YAH

IN SWAHILI, NYAH MEANS PURPOSE.

We provide fellowships for diverse youth from underserved communities to experience worlds beyond them and discover their true purpose.

OUR WORK

EACH YEAR WE SELECT A TALENTED COHORT OF DIVERSE TEENS FROM UNDERSERVED COMMUNITIES AS NYAH PROJECT FELLOWS.

We expose them to prominent leaders from the civic, business and professional community, both locally and abroad.

We provide intensive training in human factor leadership, social entrepreneurship, and experiential learning in amazing international destinations, including Ghana, Costa Rica, South Africa, Indonesia and Namibia.

This connection to new cultures through service and transformative experiences abroad allows the Nyah Project fellows to discover their true leadership potential.
