Having never done this before, I had no idea how to create a glass bowl, but my instructor was wonderful in helping me. The idea I came prepared to do was not possible so I had to wing it! It was then that I realized the challenge that our students face when trying to create something artistic. My bowl has neither aesthetic or practical importance, but it did teach me that what we do at GlassRoots can have both!
As a long-time volunteer at NJPAC and a member of the Arts Committee, I have seen how the arts can open endless possibilities for both children and adults. In the 18 years since GlassRoots began, I have witnessed hundreds of under- served children take advantage of our programs, both artistic and entrepreneurial. The challenges and accomplishments our students experience will be with them forever, regardless of their ultimate goal. It makes me proud to say that I am a member of GlassRoots!
