I chose to make my bowl with parallel stripes of black and white, as they are my favorite color combination. The parallel stripes are almost meditative and fairly neutral. And the color of any element that it holds, like candies or fruit, "pops" as a result. The bowl should be at home in any setting, be it traditional or modern. I'm excited by this opportunity to make a "creative contribution" to GlassRoots via this competition. GlassRoots is a super 18-year arts and education nonprofit that continues to provide and promote exemplary art instruction, art making and arts career information to and for Newark youth.
