If you told me five years ago that I'd be helping plan an Orthodox Christian Young Adult conference, I would have laughed in your face. Politely, but laughed nonetheless. We never know how God will use us until we get the call; it's up to us to answer. It was a little awkward to tell people, "hey, I'm working on this Church conference." Non-religious friends see you as a fanatic. Non-Orthodox friends potentially see our practices as a cult. Social pitfalls everywhere. Then, one day, I realized none of that mattered. We're all 99.99 percent the exact same. Forces in this world try to make that .01 percent bigger and more important than it is.
All humans are seeking something more - more answers to the age-old questions, more understanding of this life and its sorrows, more time with family or loved ones or God, more friends who understand our struggles, more tools to help us overcome the challenges of our blessed and beautifully messy lives. Your "more" is personal, but it's likely also universal. We are all created in God's image and we are all going through life together. What if we all sought after providing more? By being here on this site, you - right now - are helping provide more. You're taking a step to learn more and, in turn, that more will be put back into the world! Words are not sufficient for my gratitude.
We've been called to ministry through Connect Conference, and our deepest prayer is to create something sustainable for generations to come. Whether you give today, tell a friend, say a prayer or put out good vibes on our behalf, thank you with all my heart.
Our mission is to engage young adults by cultivating a pan-Orthodox community focused on spiritual growth, authentic conversation, and fellowship.
