We feel so fortunate to live in a community which has an organization like CAHOOTS. Knowing support for any crisis, big or small, will drive up and be there is amazing. Knowing anyone can access help from CAHOOTS at any time at no cost to them is why we want to fundraise!

To celebrate our fiftieth, we’re growing our programs, demonstrating our commitment to serving low income, under-resourced community members. In response to burgeoning community need, we are expanding the hours of CAHOOTS (Crisis Assistance Helping Out On The Streets) mobile crisis services, which responded to over 23,000 calls in 2018, saving an estimated $6M in emergency medical services costs alone.

CAHOOTS provides mobile crisis intervention 24/7 in the Eugene-Springfield Metro area. CAHOOTS is dispatched within Eugene city limits through the Eugene Police non-emergency number, and within the Springfield urban growth boundary and Glenwood via Springfield Police non-emergency.

Each team consists of a medic (EMT-Basic or higher) and a crisis worker (who has at least several years experience in the mental health field). CAHOOTS provides immediate stabilization in case of urgent medical need or psychological crisis, assessment, information, referral, advocacy & (in some cases) transportation to the next step in treatment.

CAHOOTS offers a broad range of services, including but not limited to:

  • Crisis Counseling
  • Suicide Prevention, Assessment, and Intervention
  • Conflict Resolution and Mediation
  • Grief and loss
  • Substance Abuse
  • Housing Crisis
  • First Aid and Non-Emergency Medical Care
  • Resource Connection and Referrals
  • Transportation to Services
