Supporting: CEID *Virtual* Walk-A-Thon 2020 for Center For Early Intervention On Deafness

My Team: 2010's (2010-2020)

Congratulations to CEID on celebrating its 40th Anniversary in 2020!  The Center for Early Intervention on Deafness (CEID) is based in Berkeley, California and is on a mission to maximize the communication potential of children and adults who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing through early education, family support, and community audiology services.

Orrick was introduced to CEID in 2013 through one of its pro bono collaborators when CEID was going through many transitions and wanted to ensure best practices for a seamless transition & position the organization for the next stage. This is when David Lin and Karen Dempsey both volunteered to help with the project.

Since then, Karen Dempsey has fallen in love with the organization and joined the Board of Directors in 2015. David Lin has led Team Orrick in previous Walk-A-Thons for the past several years and has organized Orrick colleagues to join in a beautiful walk around Lake Merritt.  The Walk-a-Thon is one of the primary fundraisers for this small non-profit organization.

This year, in light of COVID-19 and the ongoing shelter in place orders in the Bay Area, CEID has transitioned to a Virtual Walk-A-Thon, and needs your help more than ever! The diligent staff are finding creative ways to provide virtual services (tele-therapy, group circle times, etc) for the deserving children & families at CEID while our preschool and audiology clinics remain closed. Your contributions during this time of decreased revenues and challenging times are greatly appreciated! CEID is just one of many great organizations that Orrick supports through its Orrick Cares initiative which can be found here:

Thank you for your support!

Thank you for participating in our 2020 Virtual Walk-A-Thon! If you missed it, click here to watch the full welcome from Executive Director Cindy Dickeson (and Nan)!

We still need help! Donations are being accepted through the end of May.

1)     Support Your Favorite Fundraiser (Nan, Teacher, Family): Donate to CEID by supporting an individual fundraiser.
2)     Order Commemorative Shirts (youth/adult sizes available): Special commemorative 40th Anniversary "Virtual Walk-A-Thon" t-shirt designed by a Prospect Sierra student (pickup at CEID, time to be arranged).

Your generosity means so much as we continue to promote communication, access to language, community, and connection to children & families. Together, we will continue to make a real difference for children & adults who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing.
