We are hiking again this year for charity !!! This July I'll be climbing the North Face of Mount Shasta, one of the tallest mountains in the U.S. I'll be spending 3 days climbing over 7,000 feet over glaciers to the summit of 14,180 feet.
Why am I doing this? For the last 4 years I've been climbing mountains for charity with Trailmixer. Trailmixer is a non-profit association whose members are a group of serious hikers and climbers coming together every year to raise funds for underserved members of the LGBTQ Community. Our events have raised tens of thousands of dollars for multiple charities since 2013. (Go to Trailmixer.org for more information).
This year I'm raising funds for the Camp Brave Trails Scholarship Program. Camp Brave Trails is a leadership camp for LGBTQ kids 12-18 years old. Their programs focus on leadership, community building, self realization, and service.
Kids come from all over the U.S., and the camp experience is often the first time they meet others like themselves. It is truly a life-changing and transformative experience. Your donation can make a real difference in these kids’ lives.
As always, our climbers pay for all of their own gear and travel expenses.
Hello from the Trailmixer Team!
OUT Hiking for Our Community (Trailmixer)* is an organization of hikers that promote climbing events every year to raise funds for LGBTQ+ organizations. In 2020 Trailmixer’s 3-Day Climbing Fundraiser will be from July 17-19 at Mount Shasta. We are super excited to journey up this volcanic Cascade beauty – get your hiking boots on. At an elevation of 14,179 feet (4321.8 m), it is the second-highest peak in the Cascades and the fifth highest in California.
This Summer’s climb is helping fund the Camp Brave Trails scholarship program for underserved LGBTQ+ kids from all over the US. Trailmixer believes in the importance of helping kids engage with other LGBTQ+ youth.
Throughout the year, Trailmixer's members and volunteers participate in leadership workshops and community events to help provide kids with tools and skills to grow up with the confidence that they can be whoever they want to be in our society. We are working on developing new nature programs and activities with other factions of the LGBTQ+ community. Our work will grow more with your help.
So will you do it? Will you support us?
In order to maximize your donation, each climber will cover his/her own costs for travel, lodging, food and gear for this event.
In the name of all the participants and partners of Trailmixer, we thank you.
