Here on the Northshore, we are blessed with many children of all abilities, but those who dawn the various team jerseys of the Miracle League are an inspiration. These beautiful souls fill our hearts with warmth, love and compassion in ways only they can provide, and when these athletes take to the field on Saturdays their personalities shine through. If you have not had the opportunity to witness a game I would encourage you to do so, its truly a sight to see. And its the main reason I was more then happy to help support the Miracle League Northshore.
Jayne and I have four amazing kids, and a few months ago I took our two oldest, Mary Michael (6) and Margaux (4) out to the ballpark to watch the Miracle League athletes in action. It didn't take long for the girls to warm up to the surroundings of this mini baseball paradise. From the national anthem, to the cry of "play ball" and with every swing of the bat and run scored - my girls were cheering on the players as if they were watching the Red Sox at Fenway. It became clear to me that what they were watching was just a normal game, same as if it were on TV back home. And that's the beauty of the Miracle League, it gives the children on the field a chance to be just a regular kid playing ball. I went there that day with the intent of showing my girls a different side of life in the hopes that they would learn a little something, but I soon realized it was my eyes that were opened.
Now, I would be missing an opportunity if I didn't take this chance to heap a significant amount of praise on my friend, and the director of Miracle League Northshore, Noble-Bates Young. Noble is as dedicated, passionate, hard working and kindhearted as they come. God broke the mold when he made her. She pours her heart and sole into her work and her efforts show up in the smiles of each and every one of the athletes she serves. So please, help me show some love to Noble and the children of the Miracle League by donating today.
Join us as the competition heats up between fundraisers as they compete to be the M.V.P. of the 2020 Radio-thon.
