I have spent many summer weeks over the past 12 years in Joconal, Guatemala. I have made friendships and watched children grow into adulthood. The people in this village have a genuine desire to build a better life for future generations, but a lack of viable education beyond elementary school made this desire an unreachable fantasy.
Lan Vwa was created to make this dream a reality. Each year more students begin classes and are given an avenue for bringing their families out of a cycle of poverty. Seeing the first graduating class brought joy to my heart. The dream had finally come to fruition.
You are not donating to a lost cause or to someone's pie-in-the-sky unproven idea with Lan Vwa. You are instead donating to a cause with a proven track record with year after year continued growth. And you are directly impacting the life of a child that will be felt for generations in the future.
Please join me in continuing to support this great organization to give these children the opportunity to raise up their whole community's future through education.
Thanks,
Zak Covalt
The rise of the COVID-19 pandemic has challenged the way our teachers deliver instruction to students and greatly impacted support of our organization. Despite these challenges, Lan Vwa remains committed to breaking the cycle of poverty and empowering these communities through education, but we need your support. We are launching a campaign to raise $20,000 by December 31, 2020. Funds raised will help to ensure:
Our seven employees will have a secure job
Our 45 students will continue their school year uninterrupted
We can navigate necessary changes in our schools as we move into 2021
How would you like to support?
