Outdoor Program Camping Essentials Week Three Update September 23, 2021

Good evening,

Last night the Wednesday group met and did a fantastic job with the lesson, fire building, and pushing through the less than ideal weather. Rain didn't stop them. Thankfully we will not have to worry about that as tomorrow's forecast is set to be amazing. We will be meeting at the Prairie Dock Shelter. This is the same location as Week One. We will have arrow signs on Frytown Rd. leading to the Reservable Shelters entrance (LAST entrance on the right if coming from Germantown; FIRST entrance on the left if coming from Gettysburg).

We know that your student is really going to enjoy this week as they will have the chance to build and light their campfires. If you are running late or unable to join us please call or text us at (937) 802-0801.

See you on the trail!

Week Two - Outdoor Program September 16, 2021

Good evening,

We are off to a great start already with Week Two of the Outdoor Program. Last night students learned about the different types of camping gear and how to set up the gear properly in a campsite. We shift gears to Dayton for our Friday group. As a reminder please have your students dropped off and ready for fun at 4:00pm. We will once again be meeting at Possum Creek MetroPark, but we will be at the Sugar Maple Campsite. A Program Specialist from Five Rivers MetroParks will be sharing about the camping opportunities that are available in the local parks. We will then dive into the lesson and activities for the day. Please make sure each participant has a water bottle and ready to go.

If you need to contact us, text or call (937) 802-0801

Drop off directions: 4790 Frytown Rd, Dayton, OH 45417

Look for the Trailblazing Hope Outdoors direction signs.

See you on the trail,

We still need a few things July 20, 2021

Parents/Guardians,

We are kicking off the Spring Outdoor Program this week and still need some items from a few participants. If your student has not filled out the Hiker Application, please have them do that as their earliest convenience. There is also some important information within the document for you that may answer some questions you may have. Also, if your student is NEW to the Outdoor Program they will need to have a Release Form on file. Both of these forms are located on the registration page. Finally, to promote clear, fast, and effective communication we are using Discord, a group chat application. If you have not signed up for that you can do so by following this link: https://discord.gg/CPXYA43xtQ.If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to us at info@trailblazinghope.com.

Thanks,

Jonathan Slider
