Outdoor Program Week Two: Guided Hikes May 17, 2022
We had a fantastic first week of the Outdoor Program. Between the Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday cleanups we collected over 200 pounds of trash! Great job to all of our Trailblazers. This week we transition to our first of two guided hikes. Tomorrow the Wednesday Trailblazers will be meeting at Pearl's Fen with a guided hike by a Greene County Parks & Trails naturalist. We should be finished for the evening by 5:30. Friday we will have a guided hike of the Argonne Forest at Possum Creek Metropark from a naturalist from Five Rivers MetroParks. We will meet at the parking lot and trailhead located near the Black Cherry Campsite (Just follow the signs).
We look forward to seeing all of our Trailblazers this week! The forecast for Wednesday has scattered thunderstorms. We will still meet unless there is lightning in the vicinity. We will keep you posted. The forecast for Friday is hot! So make sure that your Trailblazers bring a large water bottle and sunscreen.
See you on the Trail!
Friday Session and Saturday Clean Up May 12, 2022
We are off and running as we kicked off the conservation Outdoor Program: Our Planet yesterday. Our Trailblazers hiked at Creekside Reserve where they collected trash along the Beaver Creek. We continue our clean up efforts tomorrow with our Friday group at Possum Creek MetroPark. We will be meeting at the Hickory Shelter located near the Argonne Lake. Just follow our signs.
On Saturday from 10:00-1:00pm we will be partnering with RiversEdge Outfitters for a 3.5 mile float down the Little Miami River for our 2nd Annual River Clean. We will provide a snack at the end, but encourage the Trailblazers to bring snacks and a lot of water. They should also bring towels and a change of clothes after they are finished.
We will be providing transportation from Dayton to RiversEdge for families in the Dayton community. We will meet at the fenced parking lot across from the Dayton Dragons ballpark. We will need all Trailblazers to arrive NO LATER than 9:30 so we can check them in and get on the road. A portion of our Trailblazers will be waiting for us at RiversEdge. We will then return the Dayton Trailblazers back to the same location and will message parents/guardians when we depart RiversEdge (hopefully by 1:30). PLEASE BE THERE FOR WHEN WE ARRIVE.
All Trailblazers must have a waiver filled out for RiversEdge. You can download it here: RiversEdge Waiver
Please let us know if you cannot make it or if you will not be able to be at the pickup location on time (DAYTON TRAILBLAZERS ONLY). Since we will be cleaning up during RiversEdge business hours we need to get there on time as to not disrupt their clients.
See you on the Trail!
Friday Weather Update May 05, 2022
Due to the inclement weather tomorrow we are going to push back the start of the Outdoor Program to next Friday the 13th. We will still have the river clean up on Saturday the 14th. We will be providing transportation from downtown Dayton to RiversEdge and back again. If you have any questions, please feel free to email us at [email protected] or call/text 937-802-0801.
See you on the trail!!
Conservation Outdoor Program this Friday March 28, 2022

The address is 2651 US-42, Cedarville, OH 45314. Please have your students pack a lunch and bring a large water bottle. We will try to have a water jug as well. They may also want to bring sunscreen and bug spray. The first week we will be hiking about 1.5-2 miles. We still need a few things March 28, 2022
We are kicking off the Spring Outdoor Program this week and still need some items from a few participants. If your student has not filled out the Hiker Application, please have them do that as their earliest convenience. There is also some important information within the document for you that may answer some questions you may have. Also, if your student is NEW to the Outdoor Program they will need to have a Release Form on file. Both of these forms are located on the registration page. Finally, to promote clear, fast, and effective communication we are using Discord, a group chat application. If you have not signed up for that you can do so by following this link: https://discord.gg/CPXYA43xtQ.If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to us at [email protected]
