Updates
Happy October BTSSCC Sickle Cell Supporters!
Your contributions and support helped us have a successful Sickle Cell Walk/Run 5K during sickle cell awareness month. I hope that you all enjoyed your time and shared some information about sickle cell disease and the importance of sickle cell trait testing with your family and friends. Please feel free to check some of the great photographic moments you made that were captured at the event.
If you participated in person, you received a SWAG bag which contained educational information about sickle cell disease among other great items and also an invitation to receive your free 23andMe testing kit. Please make sure to visit www.btsscycl.org to order your kit today. Education is key to breaking the cycle of sickle cell disease and learning more about our health to ensure we live our best life, as healthy as possible. The 23andMe genetic testing kit will provide sickle cell carrier status information, personal health reports, and your ancestry information.
This test is typically $199, but for you it's free for a limited time. Be sure to place your order today!
We hope to see you all next year and hope that you bring a friend. Please make sure to follow us on social media @brkthesscycle to stay up to date on BTSSCC sickle cell awareness community events and volunteer opportunities.
Well, BTSSCC Supporters WE DID IT!
The 2nd Annual Sickle Cell Warrior Walk Run was a huge success because of the collective efforts from all of you! The BTSSCC team can't express to you how deeply overjoyed we are to have your participation and support to help us keep making sickle cell a common discussion topic among families and friends. We are just getting started but we need you, to help us keep the ball rolling and continuing to raise SCD awareness in our community. People are watching all the things we do regarding sickle cell so let's give them something to see.
Far too long have the needs of the sickle cell community been overlooked, lets continue to make efforts to change that. We can't stop now, we have to keep making our voices heard until change comes. If you have not heard the news about the most recent legislation in congress up for vote regarding sickle cell check it out -Sickle Cell Disease Treatment Centers Act.
It is our most sincerest desire that you all enjoyed the event, cherished the moments you made with family and friends, and learned a little more about sickle cell disease that you can share with others. In fact, when you post about the great time you had yesterday at the Sickle Cell Warrior Walk Run 5k- tag us @brkthesscycle we'd love to see you.
Perfection is something we all strive for, so tell us what you thought about the event.
Last year, you said the event location was too hilly and you preferred a location with a flatter surface; we listened and delivered. We want to hear all about your thoughts from this years event, to help us keep improving this event for your enjoyment. Please take a moment to complete this post-event survey and let us know what you think. For those who complete the survey by 9/20/22 you will receive $10 off next year's registration cost.
Please make sure you like and follow @brkthesscycle on all social media channels to continue learning more about sickle cell disease and why we ALL need to know the answer to the question, WHAT's IN YOUR GENES?
I look forward to continuing to connect with each of you!
