Good Morning,

This Saturday we are heading outdoors to the climbing and rappelling tower at Wright State University. Our Trailblazers will have the opportunity to climb up the 51 foot climbing tower and rappel down the 30 foot rappelling wall. It will build upon the foundations from the previous two weeks.

The weather is going to be in the 80s, so make sure they bring sunscreen and a large water bottle. We will provide snacks and some gatorade.

What to wear:

  • Footwear: Close-toed shoes! Athletic style shoes are best. No sandals.
  • Pants/Shorts: Pants should be comfortably loose to allow for movement. Shorts should be of modest length since they will be wearing harnesses and they want to be comfortable.
  • Shirts/jackets: Wear what is comfortable, layering is recommended for cooler temperatures.
  • Jewelry: No dangling earrings or hoops. Watches, necklaces, and rings are best left at home.

Make sure that you bring your WSU Challenge Course and Climbing Wall waivers. You can download the waiver here: Waiver. Also, if you have not filled out a TBHO Waiver for your student you can do so online: Online Waiver

If you have not yet registered your student, you can do so here: Climbing and Rappelling Registration

The climbing tower is located behind the WSU Nischwitz Baseball Stadium. Look for the Trailblazing Hope Outdoors direction signs and follow to the parking lot. Click here for directions

If you have to cancel for whatever reason please message us on Discord or text us at 937-802-0801.

See you Saturday!!

July 19, 2022

Due to the current conditions at the climbing tower in Fairborn WSU staff felt it would be unsafe to climb. They were anticipating the rain to move out and the tower to dry off. Unfortunately it has not stopped raining there. We apologize for the back and forth and appreciate your flexibility. We will be back at it next week. Make sure you register your student if they are not already registered for next Saturday.

Good morning,

We received word that the climbing and rappelling wall are open! We will be outdoors and the ground is a little wet, so make sure your Trailblazers wears something that they don't mind getting dirty. Also, have them bring a light jacket or rain jacket.

See everyone at noon!

July 19, 2022

Good evening,

We are watching the weather in hopes that tomorrow we will still be able to climb. We know that this puts you in a position where you are in limbo. We will make the decision by 9am tomorrow. If we do not climb, we will cancel all together. We have outdoor climbing and rappelling again on the 23rd at the same time and place. If you have not registered your Trailblazer for that date you can do so here: April 23rd Climbing and Rappelling

We will keep you posted!

Good morning,

We had a great start to our climbing last Saturday. We are right back at it this weekend. We will have our signs pointing you in the right direction once you turn off Colonel Glenn onto University Blvd. We will NOT be at the Nutter Center.

We will be meeting at the entrance to the Student Union and will check in your Trailblazer. We will wait inside by the welcome desk as students arrive. Please arrive promptly so we can start climbing. There will be a quick time of introduction and an icebreaker. The WSU staff will then go over some basic information. We will be adding a little competition to this week. Fastest up the rock wall, highest point reached on hardest route, and more. We will also be providing a small snack.

Trailblazing Hope Outdoors

July 19, 2022

Hey there,

We are looking forward to the high ropes course this coming Saturday! We are hoping that the weather will cooperate with us. There is a storm front coming in and it may cause us to have to reschedule. We will notify you as soon as possible. We are at the mercy of the weather and if Athletes In Action determine it to be safe or not.

Here is some important information in the hopes that we do meet:

What to Wear :

CLOSED TOED SHOES ARE REQUIRED. Participants with sandals, slip ons, crocs, chacos, or any other form of shoe we find unfit or unsafe will not be able to participate in the activities.

Dress comfortable and according to the weather conditions. We will operate in all types of  weather unless it is lightning or the conditions create a risk for hypothermia. Please avoid wearing skirts or dresses.

Other Details :

We will provide water at the course but feel free to bring a water bottle. We will also provide snacks.

Please bring any other necessities that you may need such as medications, snacks, warm gloves, rain jacket, etc.

The high ropes course is a technical outdoor experience that will require participants to climb up to the course suspended 30 feet in the air. They will then navigate through the 15 elements while being attached via a harness. Due to the challenging elements, height of the course, and AIA policy they require that participants must be ages 12 and up. Trailblazers must also have a waiver on file with both Trailblazing Hope Outdoors and Athletes In Action. All participants must have a High Ropes Course waiver filled out PRIOR to Saturday. It is an online waiver and you can fill it out by clicking the link below.

Trailblazing Hope Outdoor Online Waiver: Click Here

Athletes In Action Waiver: Click Here (Fill out waiver as Parent/Guardian)

ATTENTION DAYTON TRAILBLAZERS:

We will provide transportation from downtown Dayton to the high ropes course and from the course back to downtown. We will pick up and drop off at the Dayton Dragons stadium at the loop located on Monument Drive across from the Fiver Rivers MetroParks Headquarters parking lot.

Drop off and pick up at the High Ropes Course:

We will have our Trailblazing Hope Outdoors road signs to help you find the entrance. Click here for directions: Athletes In Action Sports Complex, 1197 S Detroit St, Xenia, OH 45385

Thank you for your flexibility as we wait to see what Mother Nature has in store for us this weekend. We will provide a rescheduled date if we do have to cancel.

If you have any questions or need any information please reach out to us at [email protected] or call/text (937) 802-0801.

See you on the trail!
