Outdoor Climbing April 29th April 27, 2023

Good Morning,

This Saturday we are heading outdoors to the climbing and rappelling tower at Wright State University for our final climbing adventure. Our Trailblazers will have the opportunity to climb up the 51 foot climbing tower and rappel down the 30 foot rappelling wall. It will build upon the foundations from the previous two weeks. We still have spots available.

You can register your Trailblazer here: Climbing Registration

The weather is going to be in the mid 40s-50s with a LOW chance of rain, so make sure your Trailblazer is dressed properly. As mentioned in a previous email, there is a chance that WSU will close the wall due to unsafe conditions related to the weather. We will notify you via email and social media if that is the case.

What to wear:

  • Footwear: Close-toed shoes! Athletic style shoes are best. No sandals.
  • Pants/Shorts: Pants should be comfortably loose to allow for movement. Shorts should be of modest length since they will be wearing harnesses and they want to be comfortable.
  • Shirts/jackets: Wear what is comfortable, layering is recommended for cooler temperatures.
  • Jewelry: No dangling earrings or hoops. Watches, necklaces, and rings are best left at home.

Make sure that you bring your WSU Challenge Course and Climbing Wall waivers. You can download the waiver here: Waiver. Also, if you have not filled out a TBHO Waiver for your student you can do so online: Online Waiver.

The climbing tower is located behind the WSU Nischwitz Baseball Stadium. Look for the Trailblazing Hope Outdoors direction signs and follow to the parking lotClick here for directions

If you have to cancel for whatever reason please message us on Discord or text us at 937-802-0801.

See you Saturday!!

Climbing April 22nd Cancelled April 22, 2023

Good morning,

After speaking with our volunteer leaders and the staff at WSU we feel that it is best to CANCEL our climbing event for this morning. The wet conditions surrounding the climbing tower and the cooler temps would make for a less than ideal climbing experience. It is our goal to provide outdoor experiences that promote fun and encourage active participation. The last thing we want to do is force an activity and have our Trailblazers uncomfortable and miserable. Thank you for understanding and your flexibility.

We have spots available for next week. You can register here: https://bit.ly/Spring_Adventures

Thanks,

Trailblazing Hope Outdoors

Climbing and Rappelling April 22nd Announcement April 18, 2023

Good evening,

We are keeping an eye on the weather for this Saturday. There is rain in the forecast that may hamper our plans to visit the outdoor climbing and rappelling tower at WSU. If the walls are wet then WSU will cancel for safety purposes.

In the event that we have to cancel, we will move the event to the indoor rock gym as a backup plan. We know that several of our Trailblazers have already climbed indoors and may not want to climb inside again. For planning purposes, please communicate to us whether or not your Trailblazer will attend if we need to move indoors due to the weather.

You can let us know by emailing [email protected]

We will notify you the closer we get to the event. Thank you for your patience and flexibility.

Thanks,

We will have the entire park to ourselves for the first hour. All registrations include bike rental, helmet rental, and lunch. Your Trailblazer is free to bring their bicycle, but be mindful that riding on a pump track, ramps, and the other riding elements may be easier on the bikes/scooters they provide.

What to expect:

  • Lunch (pizza) and snacks provided - If your student does not eat pizza please send a lunch with them.

What to bring:

  • Riding gloves if already have them

All  participants must have a Trailblazing Hope Outdoors release waiver (if not filled out in the past 12 months) on file as well as one with Mike's Bike Park. You can find and fill those out below:

Finally, we are looking for more Adventure Leaders (volunteers) to help out on Saturday. If you are interested and available please visit our Volunteer Page and email [email protected] Riding is not required.
