Soundside Beach Cleanup Tomorrow March 14, 2023

Dear Volunteers,

Thank you for registering for our monthly beach cleanup.  We are looking forward to cleaning up Soundside Beach tomorrow.  You may park in the beach parking lot for this event.



Please remember to dress warmly and bring gloves.  Masks are requiredCommunity service certificates will be given to the students.


If you should need to cancel, please reply to this email.  There is a waitlist and we would like to give the opportunity to someone else if you are not able to make it.

Diamondback Terrapin Monitoring Training Materials for Saturday June 26 March 14, 2023

Hello! We are excited to be teaming up once
again with the Town of Oyster Bay for Team Terrapin’s Diamondback Terrapin
Monitoring and Centre Island Beach Cleanup on June 26 from 9 – 11 a.m. 
(Rain date is June 27.)

 

In order to prepare you for diamondback
terrapin monitoring, we are providing links for training purposes.

find another diamondback terrapin webinar recording from June 16th
You will also find information about the Survey 1-2-3 app for your smartphone
that can be used as a tool to report and document your findings while
monitoring with us on Saturday.  In addition, you can use their website to
enter this information.

 

If
interested, you can continue monitoring for this species and others throughout
the week as part of the 2021 Long Island Bioblitz. The Bioblitz will
take place the week of June 26-July 3 and is a fun way to learn about the
biodiversity found around Long Island’s estuaries.  The training for the
event is tonight at 7 p.m. to introduce participants to the iNaturalist app and

Centre Island Beach (sound side) Cleanup - *Email address change for last minute inquiries March 14, 2023

Dear Volunteers,

Thank you for registering for our monthly beach cleanup.  We are looking forward to cleaning up Centre Island Beach on the Sound side tomorrow.  You may park in the beach parking lot for this event.


The Sound side of the beach is across the street from the parking lot and is accessible by staircase or tunnel, located on the far east corner of the parking lot just past the rowing center building.  The check-in table will be just before the entrance to the stairs.


It is recommended to bring work gloves, or disposable ones will be provided. Students may request community service certificates.

Bayville Village Beach Cleanup, Sat 2/6 10am - noon March 14, 2023

Dear Volunteers,

Thank you for registering for our monthly beach cleanup.  We are looking forward to cleaning up Bayville Village Beach tomorrow.  As a reminder, parking is permitted on Merritt Lane for the clean-up and is restricted to the right side only.  

Please do not park on Mohring Bay Court as it is a private road.
