(We sent this email to all registered emails on Thursday night, but as of this morning, some didn't receive it, so we are sending again.)

The wait is over!

Come celebrate Picnic en Blanc on the beautiful grounds of Shinnyo-En Temple!

PLEASE READ ALL THE WAY TO THE END.

PLEASE FORWARD THIS EMAIL TO YOUR GUESTS SO THEY HAVE ALL OF THIS INFORMATION.

ABOUT SHINNYO-EN TEMPLE:

Shinnyo-En Temple is a place offering meditation and study on Shinnyo Esoteric Buddhism.Shinnyo Buddhism is rooted in the 1,100 year old Dharma lineage known as Shingon Buddhism, one of the main forms of esoteric Buddhism in Japan. The name Shinnyo means “a garden without borders, where all who desire to can bring forth their innate, true nature and be welcome as they are.”

ABOUT PICNIC EN BLANC:

Picnic en Blanc is inspired by the whimsical Diner en Blanc tradition of friends meeting to dine and dance in a non-traditional, outdoor, public location. Diner en Blanc started in France in 1988 with attendees dressed in white so they could locate one another; now, the tradition has been recreated in over seventy cities across the world. The Redwood City Parks and Arts Foundation invites you to join us for a similarly-styled picnic experience.

In addition to serving as a fundraiser to support community murals, in particular, a mosaic tile mural inside Magical Bridge Playground Redwood City, scheduled to open in Red Morton Park in 2020, Picnic en Blanc is an opportunity to connect with old friends and make new ones. We hope you enjoy this private dining and dancing experience.

The picturesque venue will be transformed by a sea of tables draped in white linen and topped with umbrellas. Bring your picnic dinner to enjoy and share, toast with our complimentary beverage in your signature Parks and Arts Foundation glass and visit with friends old and new. After dinner, dance to the music of Brickhouse as night falls and the stars light up the sky.

PICNIC EN BLANC 2018 - PLEASE READ ALL INFO. See you this Saturday, 8/25 at ... June 04, 2019

The wait is over!

Come celebrate Picnic en Blanc on the beautiful grounds of Filoli! We hope you'll forgive us for hosting the event outside of Redwood City, but we thought you wouldn't mind it.

PLEASE READ ALL THE WAY TO THE END.

PLEASE FORWARD THIS EMAIL TO YOUR GUESTS SO THEY HAVE ALL OF THE INFORMATION.

ABOUT FILOLI:

As many of you know, Filoli is an amazing and special venue! We are excited to be able to host Picnic en Blanc in this lovely historic venue.  During Picnic en Blanc you are welcome to explore the beautiful grounds and gardens.

Built more than sixty years after the California Gold Rush which inspired massive migration to Northern California, and ten years after the devastating 1906 earthquake and fires in San Francisco, Filoli (pronounced “Fie-low-lee”) represented a desire to create a magnificent and enduring country estate. Its eclecticism reflects a Golden Age in California’s history, free from the conventional rules of design, and exuding a pride in creativity and expression.

Filoli was built for Mr. and Mrs. William Bowers Bourn II, prominent San Franciscans at the turn of the twentieth century. Mr. Bourn arrived at the unusual name Filoli by combining the first two letters from the key words of his personal credo: “FIght for a just cause; LOve your fellow man; LIve a good life.”

Construction of Filoli began in 1915, and the Bourns moved into the House in 1917. Filoli’s extensive formal garden was built between 1917 and 1929. Both Mr. and Mrs. Bourn died in 1936. In 1937, the estate was purchased by Mr. and Mrs. William P. Roth, owners of the San-Francisco-based Matson Navigation Company. Under the Roths’ supervision, the property was maintained, and the formal garden gained worldwide recognition. Mrs. Roth made Filoli her home until 1975, when she donated the House and formal garden to the National Trust for Historic Preservation, for the enjoyment and inspiration of future generations. The remaining acreage was later given to Filoli Center. For more than forty years, the two nonprofits have co-stewarded the historic estate.

Currently, on display at Filoli is a summer exhibition that celebrates the Colors of California and presents a bright perspective on art in all forms. Glass art will be displayed throughout the Garden. The way that glass plays with sunlight, is reflected in water, and its interplay with natural forms is a perfect pairing for Filoli’s Garden. This exhibition features Cristy Aloysi and Scott Graham of Viscosity Studios, who exhibited in the Sunken and Walled Garden ponds in the 2016 Sculpture exhibition. They, along with California artists Kim Webster and April Zilber, will display both vignettes and impactful individual pieces throughout the Garden, from the High Place to the north side of the mansion. To learn more about Filoli see  https://filoli.org

Picnic en Blanc 2018 - Please make catering orders, and encourage your friends to buy their tickets! June 04, 2019

Dear Guests:

We are a few days away from Picnic en Blanc! Thank you for your support of this fundraising event and the programming fund for Magical Bridge Playground Redwood City. We look forward to seeing all of you very soon at a location we will reveal in an email to be sent out to you on Thursday evening.

In the meantime, please note that we have fewer than 50 tickets left, so if you have friends sitting on the fence about attending, encourage them to make that purchase ASAP! We will leave the ticket sales open until midnight Thursday night, or until we SELL OUT. Whichever occurs first. Here's the website for tickets: www.rwcpaf.org

Also, if your week is turning out a bit busier than expected, and you don't have the time or inclination to pack your own picnic dinner, Crystal Springs Catering would be delighted to prepare dinner for you and deliver it to the event. They offer a variety of platter options (charcuterie, cheese and fruit, veggie), sandwich and salad options are available too on the website. You can order food online up until 4PM on Thursday. Go to: www.rwcpaf.org.

Finally, if you're feeling "magical" and would like to make an additional $30 donation to this worthy cause to help us reach our goal of $20,000, we would like to give you a "Magical Bridge Redwood City" baseball cap as a way to say "thanks" for the added financial support. As I've mentioned before, it's a well-made baseball cap with a stitched logo and our "go-to" baseball cap. It's a grey/denim color, so it's appropriate for everyone! We have a limited number of hats available. You can secure your baseball cap by making your gift online at www.rwcpaf.org.

That's all for now! Thursday's "location reveal" email will be in your inbox before you know it.

Thank again for your support!

Picnic en Blanc 2018 - PLEASE READ June 04, 2019

Dear Guests:

We are excited to see you at Picnic en Blanc very soon! The event is less than 2 weeks away. We are so excited about this year's event. We are glad you'll be there to enjoy it with us! Invite your friends! Perhaps use it as a way to catch up with someone you haven't seen in a while, old friends, neighbors, colleagues, etc. Space is limited and we expect to sell out this year, so don't delay! (Ticket sales close on midnight, Wednesday, August 22.)

We are printing name tags for you, and your guests, however, we forgot to ask for your guests' names when you made your ticket purchase. In the next few days, can you please help us out and send an email with your guests names as they'd like them printed on a name tag? Email the names to info@rwcpaf.org, and please list YOUR name first, so we know to link it to your ticket order.

Finally, please consider whether you want to bring your picnic dinner or place a catering order with Crystal Springs Catering. They are offering some really nice platters, sandwich options, and salads. Your order will be ready for pick up at the event, and then there no prepping and no schlepping! Catering orders need to be made by midnight, Tuesday, August 21.

For the sake of community and a good cause!
