We are thrilled to introduce the featured artwork for Issue 13, the Rebellious Joy Artist Series Postcards & Poster, designed by Bianca Ng. You can read more about her process here, as well as learn more about the impetus for the project in her personal essay, "rest begets rest," here. (And definitely be sure to check out more of Bianca's work at her website here.)
This set of 20 postcards and 1 poster was created from 16 hours of conversation; the limited-edition print run is intended to be a missive between individuals to remind them of the importance and potency of rest. "Rest begets rest" is more than artwork; it is a way to spark conversation among folks about how they can better serve others and combat the demands of capitalism through rest. Order this set of the twenty 5"×7" postcards + one 10"x16" risograph-print poster to enjoy a visual symphony of rest.
Features words and inspirations from TSW staff members, contributors, residents, and community members: Sara Yinling Post, Jennifer Perrine, Lauren Mallett, Miguel Barretto Garcia, Rachel Edelman, sheena d, Alysia Gonzales, Sarah Ghazal Ali, Swastika Jajoo, Teri Vela, Nanya Jhingran, Briana Gwin, Emilie Menzel, Briana Gwin, Bretty Rawson, and Joyce Chen.
If there is anything we have learned this issue, it is that joy can be rebellious, and that rebellion can be a joy.
