Safetyville High School was tasked to examine school safety protocols. Our mission is to "Advance the Safety and Security at Safetyville High School" by implementing technology and protocol measures to “Increase School Security to Prevent School Violence.”
Since the horrific deaths of 12 students and 1 teacher in 1999 at Columbine High School in Jefferson County, Colorado, schools have changed their approach in dealing with threats and safety by improving school security. While many of us grew up with fire drills, tornado drills, or “duck-and-cover” drills in case of a bomb attack, today’s students train on lockdown procedures in case of active shooters.
Since officials started keeping public record of school shootings, 2018 will sadly be known as the worst year in history for gun violence in schools. The U.S. Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California has been tracking incidents since 1970. In 2018, the number of violent incidents in schools accounted for 51 deaths and 107 wounded, a 60 percent increase over the previous record of 59 shootings recorded in 2006. All this clearly indicates a need for increased security in schools to prevent violence and keep our children and teachers safe.
When seconds count for your family’s safety…
The ACME Safe Defense System is activated.
To this end, a task force has been created and the funds from the “School Safety Technology Campaign” will be utilized toward the implementation of safety measures and protocols to be better prepared to deal with threats and minimize the risk to our children and teachers. Our “School Safety Technology Campaign” has a goal of $80,000 for the contract with ACME Safe Defense Systems. Partly covered by private donors, and for the remaining $30,000, we're looking for the support of our community!
