Native Tree Planting
What: Volunteer tree planting event Come help TEC plant trees along Lytle Creek. Where: The exact location will be given closer to the date because this is on private property. Parking will be available in the field/street. Please do not block driveways or intersections. When: This event will occur on Friday, December 15, 2023, beginning at 9:00 am and ending around 12:00 pm. Why: By planting a diverse assortment of native trees, we will expand the vegetative buffer zone along Lytle Creek. Healthy vegetative buffers play an instrumental role in the health of a stream by reducing the amount of sediment and nutrient pollution entering the stream, reducing erosion, decreasing flood water velocity downstream, and creating habitat for a variety of wildlife. This event is in collaboration with Kirchhoff Automotive whose goal is to plant 1785 trees correlating with the year they started. What to bring: Please be sure to bring a refillable water bottle, a snack/lunch, and a desire to make a positive environmental impact. TEC will provide all necessary tools, sunscreen, and bug spray.
