Join us for a riverfront cleanup on the Allegheny River to celebrate Earth Day! We will be cleaning up around the mouth of Sandy Creek and surrounding riverbanks with our partners at Three Rivers Waterkeeper. We are also very thankful for our sponsor and partners at Penn's Woods West Trout Unlimited!
After our cleanup, everyone is invited to 10.7 Marina to for a happy hour from 7:30PM-9:00PM! There will be pizza available for purchase and all volunteers will be given a complimentary beer! 10.7 Marina's address is 314 Arch St, Verona, PA 15147 and is right down the road from Steel City Rowing! We are so excited to celebrate Earth Day with you!
What will we be doing?
Volunteers will meet at Steel City Rowing where we will go over safety, our work plan for the day, and then we will be off to collect trash from land and water! We will use our pontoon boat, Rachel Carson, to shuttle volunteers up and down the banks.
What do I wear?
Clothes: Please wear clothes that you are comfortable with potentially getting muddy/wet. Volunteers are required to wear long pants. We also recommend a bringing long-sleeved shirt to avoid being scratched or coming in contact with poison ivy. It is also suggested to bring a change of clothes in case you have a bit too much fun pulling a muddy tire
Footwear: Closed-toe shoes are required. We recommend rubber boots or waterproof boots.
What do I bring?
Please be sure to bring your reusable water bottle!
All volunteers will be provided with work gloves, life jackets, safety glasses, and tools. We will also have all necessary safety equipment available such as first aid, sunscreen, bug spray, canned water, and light snacks.
