Helping Hands

Our Helping Hands program has been around for over a decade and has helped to maintain over 75 miles of trails in Alabama's three federally designated wilderness areas, Sipsey, Cheaha and Dugger Mountain. Helping Hands volunteers help with everything from trash removal to using a crosscut saw to remove tree blockages from a trail. Other projects include glade restoration and removal of non-native invasive species. No experience is required but volunteers should be in generally good health and be able to hike several miles on some days and be prepared for uneven and sometimes challenging terrain.
