Rewild Portland’s Free Skills Series is a family-friendly class and community event that happens monthly, usually (but not always) occurring on the last Saturday of the month. It is a place to meet new people and hang out with old friends while learning skills that connect us with humanity’s ancestral past and more local and sustainable future. We suggest a $10–$20 donation, with no one turned away. We are proud to be sponsored by Portland Parks & Recreation’s Environmental Education division.

December: Oral Tradition
For three million years, humans passed down traditions and culture orally. Writing only began five thousand years ago. Is oral tradition still important today? What are the benefits of oral tradition? Can oral tradition convey things that writing cannot? Come explore these ideas with us, learn some cool methods for memorizing without writing, and learn about the ancient art of storytelling.
