Eliza Jane Project

The New Mexico Dream Center has exciting news. We have recently acquired an 8-bedroom rental facility to house trafficking survivors as they transition from their situation into the next season of their life. This home will be staffed 24/7 and will have constant security.

This home, dubbed the Eliza Jane Project, is the first of its kind in New Mexico.

There are no other fully staffed residential housing options for trafficking survivors in our entire state.

Why the Eliza Jane Project?

The project is named after the homeowner’s mother, Eliza Jane Carwile Skinner (1941-2007). Having been born into poverty on the plains of west Texas, Eliza Jane lived most of her life in New Mexico where, as a mother of 3, she became a relentless advocate for those who could not speak up for themselves. She co-founded and later became a board member of an organization that continues to help children and adults living with disabilities live active and productive lives. Her dedication to standing up for those with little opportunity was and still is an inspiration to many. In our efforts to serve victims of human trafficking, we realize that it is people like Eliza Jane who paved the road before us to be relentless advocates for those who society overlooks.

Here’s where you come in! We want this house to feel like a home to the people who live here. There’s nothing quite like a place of your own to call home with all your own things.

We are accepting donations for larger items for the main area of the home. Think, Living room furniture, appliances, dining room furniture, etc.

These expenses can add up and we want to give everyone who passes through this house a place to feel warm, safe, and taken care of.
