Poverty Tears Families Apart

Here on the Thai /Myanmar border many families are struggling. It's hard to stay together and have hope when their situation is so oppressive. Often children are given over to orphanages because parents don't earn enough to care for them. But loving parents are a child's best protection against exploitation and abuse.

Poverty should never be the only reason to remove a child from their family.

The UN says that families like this ought to be supported. At The Charis Project we provide that support to families in need along the Thai/Myanmar border.

weekly support visits
nutrition for pregnant and breastfeeding mothers
food aid for families with disabled children and single mothers
on going education in parenting, health, pregnancy, natural farming, etc.
A drop in resource center where we provide classes and other resources.
